These Choos Are Made for Walking…

PUBLISHED IN:

Last night Saks Fifth Avenue and Harper’s Bazaar editor Glenda Bailey welcomed Tamara Mellon to celebrate her company’s new Choo 24:7 by Jimmy Choo collection. In typical Fashion Week style, the crowd was clad in black and rocking fancy footwear despite the sludge outside. All eyes were on the new Jimmy Choos, though (well, also Brooke Shields). The 27-piece line includes Tamara’s all-time favorite styles remade in new colors, materials and heel heights.

We caught up with Tamara for a brief chat about 24:7.

There are a lot of Choos out there. What was the inspiration behind the new line?

The inspiration was to produce a collection that would carry over from season to season — timeless pieces that women could always depend on. They’re modern, yet at the same time, they transcend different collections. So women will still come to us for fashion-forward trends of the moment, but these pieces they can combine with anything in their closet.

So, very versatile?

Very versatile. You can wear these from day to night. To accompany all aspects of a woman’s life.

You’re the queen of fashionable footwear. Any shoe trends you’d like to see go away right now?

I think the trends are really great right now. I love all the volumes, I love the over-the-knee boots, the chunky sandals. I’m not sure I’d like to see the kitten heel come back — I don’t think I’m there yet.

The classic 24:7 collection at SAKS starts at $465 a pair and is all high heels at the moment. Tamara said they’ll be introducing some boots for the line this fall.
